Things to read.

New carnival of feminists up here! And Rach is in it, so go read.

Archaeology is fun.

I'm beginning to suspect that Bonekickers is a parody. And yet I love it so.

Edit: It has to be. A brilliant parody with just the right amount of sexual tension. I have to switch off my History brain to watch it, but it's worth it.

History is fun.

I found a knitted Anne Boleyn! With a detachable head! So cool.

What does this say about me?

Googlemail has automated 'sponsored links', based on the kind of words you use. Currently, I have one trying to recruit me to MI6. Another one, entitled 'Wife Leave' says 'Learn to Be Nice to Your Wife, or Pay the Price. Read Full Story' with a link to the Washington Post.

Um.

A man on the TV just sad that kids are more human than adults. Hmm

Home!

My exams are over! Woot!

I'm watching the 1983 adaptation of Jane Eyre on YouTube. Timothy Dalton is way too hot to be Rochester.

Free music!

Tom Robinson! Yay!

Heehee.

David Beckham and Wayne Rooney featured surprisingly often in answers about class and social status, while one candidate claimed that television advertisements for shampoo provided an insight into what visual representations reveal about changing gender roles.

From the 2005 Modern History examiners' report on 'Approaches to History'.

Also-
Another confused soul reported that, since the influential study by ‘Keith Richards’, ‘witchcraft is now seen as having largely replaced justice in the absence of a police force’.

Also
On the whole this was a very encouraging set of scripts, despite inducing recurring nightmares about cats being drowned in the Madagascan Royal Bath or being buried alive at Mound 2 at Sutton Hoo.

And
Students generally appear to have taken this paper seriously. They have attended lectures, taken notes in classes/tutorials and actually read books and articles.

Thought for the day.

If the Three Musketeers were meant to be defending the interests of the king, then why the hell did they help the queen hide her adultery? Surely that's treason?

(This post is brought to you by Kirsten's brain on Marx. Just say no, kids, just say no.)

Change of pace.

I've handed in my last tutorial essay til October! Woot!

I have exams in three weeks. Boo.

At least we ALL look stupid.

Fellow hapless student 1- I read about Marx's idea of false conciousness/the distinction between class for itself and of itself/something else about Marx expressed in very long words. I really agree with that interpretation of his thought.

Tutor- Hmm. Lots of people seem to think that about Marx. They're wrong. He never said that.

Tutor- So Kirsten, did you come across the idea of stasis and what did you make of it?

Me- No. Errrm. I didn't read about that.

(On the way out of the tute) Fellow hapless student 2- I feel I have reached a new low. I ended my introduction with a broken of sentence, and he's written a note saying 'This sentence is not complete'.
